It's very cool, if your cell phone does not need to charge with eclectic power, but quite "heating" with the sun. LG and Samsung introduced the prototype of solar powered mobile phone at Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona, Spain. Samsung named it's new product with "Blue Earth". Touch screen mobile phone with rounded edges. Referred to as environment-friendly, Blue Earth made from recycled plastic and does not contain hazardous materials such as brominated flame retardants (BFRs), Beryllium and phthalates.

The Battery cover of Blue Earth exhibit solar panel. Unfortunately, the solar panels can not generate enough power to run the phone directly. Power is used to recharge the Battery in the conventional device. In addition, in the dark, as in the bag or pants pocket, Battery mobile phone also can not be re-filled. And because the solar panel in the back of the Battery, mobile phone are encouraged to be put in upside down, display facing down, the display have a risk to scratch.

LG -not yet announced a name- can generate enough power to be used to speak for 3 minutes after battery exposed to sunlight for 10 minutes, and solar panel on the LG phone will provide enough power for the mobile phone without conventional charger.

Is charger not needed anymore? Not as well. Samsung said the Blue Earth phone still come with the charger, which is energy efficient because only 30 miliwatt interesting in standby condition.

Not yet known when Samsung will market the Blue Earth. However, LG mobile phone plan will be released to the environment-friendly European market late this year.
