What is SSD (Solid State Disk)?

Solid State Disk vs Hard Disk Drive

Recently I heard a lot about the hard disk that SSD that began many serviceable in the notebook. What is SSD? What the different from the HDD?

SSD is the abbreviation of the Solid State Disks while the HDD is the Hard Disk Drive. Both are forms of storage media used in computers and other electronic devices.

Contrasting with the HDD, which still has the mechanics, the media SSD storage technology similar to a memory computer or a USB drive, where the storage media does not have moving parts.

SSD superiority compared with the HDD:

+ Age data in the SSD longer and more resistant than tossing HDD. These factors will preclude users from the risk of losing data because of "minor impact" that can not be avoided in the notebook users.
+ Use of power in the SSD is smaller than HDD, it is very suitable for use on mobile devices. Battery from the device will survive longer between battery charging time.
+ The speed read-write data SSD relatively faster than the HDD. Booting time can be faster so that you do not need to wait long after the "On" button is pressed.
+ No moving part on the SSD will make the device work as a whole to be no more noisy and less in heat of HDD.

Disadvantage of SSD than HDD:

- The price of SSD is still very expensive, can be several times from the HDD with the same capacity. In addition, the maximum capacity SSD available in the market are still limited. But the same as all other technology, along with the time and the used, the price of SSD will be more affordable and capacity will increase.
